Change log for Mail Badger -------------------------- 0.3 (5/8/2008): * Mac OS X 10.5 is now required. Older versions of Mail Badger will still remain available for the time being for Mac OS X 10.4 users, but no new 10.4 support is planned. * A proper uninstaller is now provided. * The "Spiked Circle" image set has been renamed "Starburst." * Three new options have been added to the "Compute the message count for this badge..." section: unread/read/all messages in account. * If you have modified the standard Mail.app icon in its application bundle, Mail Badger will now use the correct icon for its background, rather than reverting to the default. * For ease of use, a new option, "Include unread messages only", has been added to the "Edit conditions" panel, and it defaults to "on" for newly created badges. To include read messages in the count, uncheck this button. * Selecting images for an image set now uses the standard OS X image picker, allowing you to crop and scale an image in place, as well as take a picture using your computer's built-in iSight. Due to this, users are no longer asked if an image taller than 128 pixels should be resized (a return to 0.1 functionality). * Core Image is now used for all image manipulation. The old, slower algorithm available by setting "UseBasicColorizationAlgorithm" in the user-defaults file is no longer supported. 0.2 (5/31/2007): * Integrated Help can be loaded by clicking the purple Help button at the bottom-right corner of the Mail Badger section of the Preferences window. * The built-in "Spiked Circle" images have been altered to remove some of the unnecessary empty space around them. You may need to slightly resize or reposition some of your badges that use this image set to get the exact appearance that you had in the previous versions. * Badge colorization algorithm now honors the saturation of the original image as well as the brightness when applying color. * When loading into a new image set an image taller than 128 pixels, the user is now asked if the image should be resized or if the original should be used as is. * The position of the text anchor on a custom image is now also displayed as percentages in the image set window. * Sometimes custom images in the image set boxes would be drawn on top of the borders of those boxes. 0.1.1 (5/27/2007): * Badge colorization now uses a much faster Core Image-based algorithm. The slower classic algorithm can be enabled by typing "defaults write com.tonyallevato.MailBadger UseBasicColorizationAlgorithm 1" (without the quotes) at a Terminal prompt. To return to the Core Image algorithm, type "defaults write com.tonyallevato.MailBadger UseBasicColorizationAlgorithm 0". * Choosing certain badge colors would sometimes cause Mail to crash. * Images loaded into a new image set that are larger than 128x128 pixels (the maximum size of the dock icon) are now scaled down to save memory and speed up colorization. * "Mail Badger enabled" setting was not being saved properly; closing and restarting Mail would re-enable it regardless of the setting. 0.1 (5/22/2007): * Initial release.
